Groundhog's Day February 2, 2009

Punxsutawney Phil (a groundhog),  made his first official weather predication on February 2, 1887.  Residents claim that Phil the Groundhog, has never been wrong!

"If the Groundhog sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter.  If he does not see his shadow, it means spring is just around the corner."

Okay, before you believe everything you read, let's check out the facts!

The legend of Groundhog Day is founded on an old Scottish couplet or saying:

"If Candlesmas Day is bright and clear, There'll be two winters in the year."

Candlemas is the 40th day after Christmas.  (More about Candlemas below!)

Since some of Groundhog's Day is based on a Scottish Couplet or saying, I thought you would enjoy a little "mood" music.
